The Episcopal Ministry for Highland Falls, Fort Montgomery & West Point

Why Canterbury?
We know, your time is precious and there's never enough of it at USMA. So why spend time with us? Christian formation is a lifelong journey best done with company! One of the marks of a mature Christian—and leader—is faithful discernment. Discernment is asking questions with an open heart to gain clarity and understanding, listening for where God's purpose is leading. It requires deepening knowledge of yourself and honesty with yourself and those you discern with. Campus ministry is a supportive community to grow in faith and spiritual maturity with friends discerning this same stage of life.
Canterbury is a place to:
-
Be authentically yourself. We are a fully affirming community. Every single beloved child of God is valued, welcome, and safe in our campus ministry. For a couple hours a week let down whatever walls you might have up and rest.
-
Bring your hard questions. We work in community to understand God and ourselves more clearly. Exploring your curiosity and doubts are essential to growing in faith (they certainly won't go away shoved in a closet).
-
Nourish your soul. Connecting with God and enjoying fellowship with people who really know and see you is spiritually grounding. It recharges your spiritual battery.
-
Come when you can, come as you are, decompress with us. We're not one more obligation.

Tuesday Club - Thayer Hall
We meet in Thayer 348 on Tuesday Nights from 7:15-8:15 for fellowship, eucharist, discussion, and pizza. All are welcome.

Retreat Weekends
Twice a year we offer a weekend retreat off post to make space to decompress longer and dig deeper into our faith.

Summer Services at USMA
Episcopal eucharist is offered at Camp Buckner and Cadet Chapel service breakouts during the summer for cadets. Yes, there is a theme: it's snacks.

El Buen Pastor Soup Kitchen
One Sunday a month we serve people experiencing food insecurity in the Newburgh area, including a significant veteran population.

Worship at Holy Innocents
Rides are available to Holy Innocents right outside Thayer Gate for Sunday Eucharist and holidays.

Fellowship
We get together for fun throughout the year to deepen relationships and enjoy each other's company.
Parents
Launching a child into adulthood at West Point is unlike any other experience. We delight in providing a safe spiritual place for all cadets to land, a refuge when their challenging path feels heavy, but also, to make space for joy! This ministry isn't funded by USMA. We run on grants from Episcopal Church sources and fundraising by Church of the Holy Innocents Highland Falls. Parent support has been essential to maintaining our full schedule of fellowship meals, outings and retreats.
Episcopal Faculty, Staff & Family
Check in with Mother Jan about dropping by or helping out! We can always use drivers for trips or homemade goodies, but the real value is the connection. Come alongside young adults hungry to bounce their thoughts and questions off a wider circle of trustworthy adults besides their parents or TACs, especially those who've walked the roads they're contemplating.
